Manipur's COVID-19 death toll rises to 256 as seven more persons succumbed to the viral infection on Friday and the confirmed tally increased to 24,514, the state health department said.
As many as 218 persons (120 males and 98 females) from the general population and four personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases on Friday, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The new positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West - 80, Imphal East - 72, Thoubal - 32, Bishnupur - 11, Kakching - 2, Tamenglong - 5, Ukhrul - 4, Churachandpur - 11 and Noney - 1. All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
The COVID-19 fatalities on Friday included four from Imphal West and three from Imphal East, the state health department said.
Meanwhile, 208 more patients recovered from COVID-19 on Friday, pushing the total number of recoveries to 21,006 (General Population - 18,240 and Central Security Personnel - 2,766). The recovery rate is 85.68 per cent.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 3,252 (General Population - 2,946 and Central Security Personnel - 306), it added.
Those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves.
