Manipur on Thursday reported no COVID-19 death, while the single-day COVID-19 positive cases surged back above 200-mark as Targeted Testing of COVID-19 began in Wangoi Assembly constituency, where by-election was held recently.
As per the latest update from the state health depart, 95 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected during the Targeted Testing in Wangoi Assembly Constituency. Including it, 229 persons from the general population were found positive. One personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were also confirmed as new COVID 19 positive case.
In all, 230 more people were confirmed positive for COVID-19. With it, the cumulative confirmed tally moved to 22,548 cases, including 2,918 Central Security Personnel, a release from the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated. It stated that the cumulative number of active cases is 2,886, including 196 Central Security Personnel.
The new positive cases from the general population included 142 from Imphal West, 23 from Imphal East, 14 from Thoubal, 20 from Bishnupur, 10 from Kakching, four from Ukhrul, five from Tamenglong, eight from Churachandpur, one from Kangpokpi and two from Jiribam, the release stated.
All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release added.
As there is no report of deaths on Thursday, the total number of deaths remained 231.
The total number of discharged persons is 172. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 19,431, including 2,718 Central Security Personnel 2.718. The recovery rate is 86. 17 per cent.
Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves.
