“We are yet to decide on the matter related to reopening educational institutions in urban as well as rural areas of the state,” Rymbui said on Friday.

Rymbui, however, informed that the education department will convene a meeting on June 15 to discuss the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for reopening of educational institutions.

According to Rymbui, the state government's decision will be in the best interest of the state at an appropriate time.

Meanwhile, several schools, especially in the urban areas have been instructing their pupils through the social media on class curricula and tasking them with regular homework.

However, stakeholders are of the opinion that online classes were not feasible in the state as most of the students, especially in rural areas, do not have access to smart phones and internet connection in the remote areas is weak.
