The student body submitted a memorandum to the CVC on Saturday which pointed out irregularities in admission procedure, principal and faculty, infrastructure, website, examination and internship, power to relax and school of education.

“Many Teacher Education institutes in the state are violating the norms of NCTE Regulation in a sign of nepotism, favouritism and malpractice to decrease the quality of Teacher Education,” said secretary general of DESAM Leishangthem Lamyanba Meitei while speaking to the media on Saturday in Imphal.

Saying that DESAM had exposed many irregularities related to Teacher Education such as the recent case of question leaked for the MEd Examination, 2020, the secretary general contended that only a few were corrected but many were left unattended.

“There is a strong need to take up stringent action against the wrongdoers and bring a new consciousness in the field of Teacher Education so that teaching as a profession must be a choice and not by chance,” Lamyanba said.

As teachers are the one who play a vital role in shaping a better future and society, it is an urgent need to streamline the irregularities in the Teacher Education institutes, he added.
