Manipur government to hold media briefing on COVID-19 every Friday

Manipur's COVID-19 confirmed caseload rose to 18,272 and the death toll to 164 on Friday

The Manipur government on Friday announced its decision to hold a media briefing every Friday afternoon at the Directorate of Health Services, Imphal, as the cumulative COVID-19 confirmed caseload rose to 18,272 and the death toll 164, official sources said.

COVID-19 claimed four more lives, one each from Churachandpur, Imphal West, Kangpokpi and Imphal East, and infected 221 more people, as per the latest updates by the COVID-19 Common Control Room on Friday.

It stated that Covid Appropriate Behaviour message stickers for Public Transport were distributed by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Advisor to CM, and Principal Secretary (Health & Family Welfare). Leaflets were also given to Labour and Employment department, Social Welfare department and ASHAs and ANMs of Health Department and National Health Mission, Manipur.

The new positive cases included 14 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). With it, the number of active cases is 4.303 (General Population - 3,999 and Central Security Personnel - 304).

The positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West (49). Imphal East (39). Thoubal (32), Tengnoupal (4). Kangpokpi (2). Kamjong (2), Ukhrul (2). Bishnupur (9). Kakching (11), Senapati (1), Churachandpur (14), Tamenglong (35), Jiribam (1) and Chandel (6). All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the Control Room stated in a release.

The total number of discharged persons is 222. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 13,805 (General Population - 11,367 and Central Security Personnel 2,438). With it, the recovery rate is 75.55  per cent, the release added.

In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818, the state health services stated. One can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home (10 am to 3 pm every day except on Sunday) by downloading eSanjeevaniOPD app at Google Play store or go to website www.esanjeevaniopd.in.

Self-isolate yourself immediately if you were in contact with a positive person, Contact Covid Control Room or CMO for testing, the health department stated.
