The DC asked the participants to give suggestions for fighting the disease which will be forwarded to the state chief minister. He also said that he was happy with the step taken by the district administration and medical department in asking for more efforts to fight the pandemic.

Pawan spoke about the facilities available at present and the need to have more manpower. He said that the church leaders and civil societies have helped immensely in the initiation of Jan Andolan.

Deputy commissioner of Pherzawl, Manmuanching said that initially COVID-19 was taken lightly by the people but it is the most serious issue in present day. Though there is no cure for the disease till yet, people should at least follow the basic precautionary measures like wearing face masks in public places, maintaining six feet distance and regular washing of hands, she added.

SP of Churachandpur, Amrita Sinha said that so far all stakeholders have worked together in the fight but still more efforts are needed. She continued that if every person takes their individual responsibility seriously and maintains SOPs strictly, there will be a much lesser number of COVID-19 infected people in the future.

CMO, Dr VC Pau Tonsing said that one main factor for the spread of COVID-19 in Churachandpur is that people are ignorant about the disease even after much awareness has been given through media and other means. While asking the people to strictly comply with the rules, particularly home isolation of 17 days, the CMO said that the recent positive cases were from the locals who do not have any travel history, which is alarming.

Meanwhile, Churachandpur recorded three deaths due to COVID-19 bringing the total death to 16 in the district with 11 new positive cases (10 cases from local remissions and one returnee). At present, the total positive cases in Churachandpur are 1,381. A reliable source from Pherzawl district has reported that the district had 33 positive cases and all were recovered. No new case was reported in the district.
