Manipur COVID-19 updates: Three-year-old among 16 new positive cases; total tally 124

Of the total 124 COVID-19 positive cases reported in the state, 86 cases are active, the health department said.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur rose to 124 as 16 more people, including a three-year-old girl, tested positive for the virus, the state health department said on Thursday.

Thirteen new cases including a three-year-old girl were confirmed on late Wednesday, while another three persons tested COVID-19 positive on Thursday.

The 16 new cases were confirmed at the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) of JNIMS, Imphal. Of them, Kangpokpi reported six cases, including a three-year-old girl, Tengnoupal and Churachandpur three each, while Bishnupur, Chandel, Tamenglong and Imphal East reported one case each, state health department spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said in a release.

While, of the 13 cases reported in the morning, he persons from Bishnupur and Kangpokpi are Mumbai returnees. Those from Chandel, Tamenglong and Imphal East are Delhi returnees while those from Tengnoupal have returned from Pune. Of the three cases reported from Churachandpur, one is a Chennai returnee,  another one returned from Pune while other one is a nurse with no travel history, the state health department stated.

All the new COVID-19 positive patients are in stable condition and have been shifted to COVID Care facility at JNIMS, Dr Mangang said. All necessary precautionary measures such as containment in respective districts and contact tracing are under way, he added.

Of the total 124 COVID-19 positive cases reported in the state, 86 cases are active, the health department said. The total number of recovery cases stood at 38.

On Wednesday, the number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur was 108.
