Manipur’s Pherzawl and Thoubal get new ambulances amid COVID-19 battle

Manipur Health Minister L Jayentakumar said that eight more new vehicles for the health department and new districts of the state will be reaching the state soon.

In an effort to address the issue of transportation of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic that poses a challenge to the health department in Manipur, state Health Minister L Jayentakumar has launched two ambulances, one each for Pherzawl and Thoubal districts at the Directorate of Health Services, Lamphelpat, Imphal.

Launching the two ambulances on Wednesday, Jayentakumar said as the health department is trying its best to fight COVID-19, among many other loopholes that the department is facing, vehicles for transportation of patients from one place to another has been a major problem.

Saying that ambulances are the need of the hour during COVID-19 pandemic, he said that eight vehicles specifically for the health department and new districts of the state will be reaching the state soon.

Member of legislative assembly, Pherzawl assembly constituency, Chaltonlien Amo who was present at the inaugural session, said that Pherzawl district is located at a remote place so the ambulance is much needed in case of any emergencies. He also said that the ambulance will serve its purpose and help the people of the district.
