The Socialist Students Union Manipur (SSUM) on Sunday exposed schools which were functioning with fake registration. The union has questioned the integrity of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur.
The schools that were listed by SSUM are Khelakhong Khongjil Khwai Madrashsa, Khelakhong Khongjil, Sunrise Public School, Uripok Khaidem leikai.
A release issued by general secretary of SSUM, Bhushan Longjam union claimed that the names of class nine students from Khelakhong Khongjil Khawai Madrasha were found in Sunrise Public School and few other schools.
It alleged that Khelakhong Khongjil Kwai Madrasha collected names of students from other schools and registered it under BOSEM as their students. On the other hand class nine students of Sunrise Public School were not registered under the school, it said.
Besides, Khelakhong Khongjil Khwau Madrasha provided fake registration numbers to its class eight students who were transferred from other schools, the release said. It maintained that the registration number of the students did not even exist when SSUM went to cross check it at the concerned ZEO.
Questioning how such practices have been allowed for long, the union also expressed suspicion that concerned ZEO and BOSEM could have also been involved in such activities.
The concerned ZEO and BOSEM should immediately cancel the recognition of such schools and they should not be allowed to run the schools from the following year, the student body demanded. It also appealed to the parents to cross check the status of the schools before admitting their children.
