‘Almost 65 per cent of COVID-19 positive patients under home isolation recovered’

There are 1,088 COVID positive patients, who are under home isolation as per the records till October 14, the advisor (health) to CM said.

Advisor (health) to the chief minister of Manipur, Sapam Ranjan on Thursday announced that almost 65 percent of COVID positive patients staying under home isolation have recovered.

Ranjan informed that there are 1088 COVID positive patients, who are under home isolation as per the records till October 14. Among them, 681 have recovered and the active cases stand at 407. This is a positive sign that almost 65 percent of COVID positive under home isolation have recovered from COVID-19, he stated.

Ranjan was distributing medicines to be provided free of cost to home isolation patients through the concerned chief medical officers.

Prior to the distribution which was organised at the health directorate, Imphal,  Ranjan briefed the media and said that a meeting was convened on Thursday.

Considering the spike in death tally and the number of newly confirmed cases on Wednesday, the meeting decided to identify hotspots of COVID-19 and to declare them as “strict containment zones”, the health advisor said.

As the number of COVID-19 cases can possibly increase, the state government has a plan to increase the number of beds in the COVID Care centres. A site under JNIMS complex has been identified to set up CCC and completion of the same will not take much time, he added.

He further stated “ it is really good news to know that people have started  to know the benefits of home isolation in the state”.

The medicines distributed include Ascorbic Acid (vitamin c) VIT- CE tablets which can be eaten daily after food for 10 days, Zinc Sulphate Dispersible tablet IP 20 mg,( Zincofine-20 DT) which can be eaten once in the morning and evening for seven days. The name of another medicine is Cholecalciferol Soft Gelatin capsules-D3 which can be eaten once in a week for four weeks.

Ranjan stressed that it is the responsibility of every person to fight the pandemic and the media also have a great role in spreading awareness of COVID-19 in the state. He also urged people under home isolation to strictly follow the guidelines of COVID-19 and appealed to the people to follow the precautionary measures of COVID-19.

Health director K Rajo and principal secretary(health) Vumlunmang Vualnam were also present in the medicine distribution.
