COVID-19 death toll reaches 78 in Manipur

The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the state has reached 12,240 cases

COVID-19 claimed three more lives in Manipur, pushing the death toll in the state due to the disease to 78, while the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the state reached 12,240  with  the report of 135 new COVID-19 positive patients on Tuesday. The positive tally included 2,680 active cases and 9,482 recovered cases, official sources said.

The three victims are all females. One is an 80-year-old woman from Churachandpur, another a 62 -year old from Imphal West and the third a 80-year-old from Imphal West. The new COVID-19 positive cases included l25 persons (61M. 64F) from the general population and l10 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), the 5 pm bulletin from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

The positive cases from the general population are - 33 from Imphal West, 45 from lmphal East, three from Kakching, three from Churachandpur, one from Kangpokpi, two from Tengnoupal, four from Bishnupur: three from Senapali, two from Ukhrul, six from Noney, 10 from Thoubai, four from Chandel, eight from Tamenglong, and one form Kamjong, the release stated.

As many as 124 new positive cases have no significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities . All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release added. 

Meanwhile, 148 more patients have been discharged from hospital . The recovery rate is 77.46 per cent. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 9.482 (General Population 7.390 and Central Security Personnel 2.092). The cumulative number of positive cases included 2,473 Central Security Personnel.

The Covid -19 positivity rate (the average number of Covid l9 positive out of the 100 individuals tested) is 4.76 per cent. This is much lower than the national average of 7.5 per cent. There is no indication that the Covid I9 situation is going out of control. In order to augment the testing capacity in the state. a total of 1,35,000 rapid antigen kits have been procured. Further, the state has placed an order for 50,000 kits, which Is likely to be delivered within two-three days, Dr Khoirom Snsheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson Health Department, Mampur stated in the release.

"If you were in contact with a positive person, isolate immediately. Contact Covid control room or CMO for testing. Together we can break the COVID chain," the health department stated.

The public can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home between 10 am and 3 pm every day except Sunday by downloading ‘eSanjeevaniOPD’ app at Google Play Store or by visiting the website ‘www.esanjeevani.opd.in’.
