Two persons arrested with arms on national highway-37

The two were arrested on October 2 by the Jiribam Police.

Jiribam police arrested two persons and seized two pistols along with live bullets on October 2 at around 8:30 pm along NH-37.

Police said based on reliable information, a team of the district police under the supervision of additional SP (Law and Order), H Basulal Singh conducted frisking and checking along NH-37 by a team of Jiribam Anti Drug Cell Unit led ASI, A Krishna Sharma.

During frisking, the Mahindra Scorpio bearing registration number MN06LB-0972 was checked and a black colour leather bag was found inside the vehicle. When the bag was opened, two pistols, one marked as TANFOGLIO, Made in Italy (CAL 9 X19) with one empty magazine and other one M-20 bearing body number 32064453 with one empty magazine were found along with 32 numbers of 9 mm live round ammunition (Marked as KF 17 9mm 2Z) and 42 numbers of 7.62 X 25 live round ammunition (Marked as S and B5   7.62 X 25). The licenses of the pistols were invalid when checked, the police said.

The arrested persons who came in the vehicle were identified as Md Khomei, 30, son of Md Iboyai of Hangool Ngakhapat, PO Kakching, Hiyanglam PS, Kakching district and Md Samsur alias Barr, 28, son of (Late) Md Tamijur of Nongpok Ingkhol-A, Porompat PS, Imphal East district. According to them, the pistols were carried to deliver to Cachar, Assam.

An FIR has been registered under Arms Act, 1959 and the arrested persons along with the seized arms and vehicle have been handed over to Jiribam Police Station for further investigation.
