Nagaland: No COVID-19 case reported today

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Nagaland stands at 43 since Sunday.

After days of detecting COVID-19 positive cases without respite, Nagaland expressed a sigh of relief on Monday as all the samples tested returned negative.

“No positive case of COVID-19 reported in 24 hours,” informed Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom on Twitter on Monday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 43 since Sunday.

Meanwhile, shopping malls and tea stalls are also seen operating on Monday in the state’s commercial hub Dimapur for the first time in more than two months. With this development, life has come back to almost full circle in the commercial hub of Nagaland.  However, popular markets like Dimapur’s Hongkong Market and New Market are yet to be opened.

Nagaland reported its first COVID-19 case on May 25 and its first Biosafety Level (BSL)-3 lab for COVID-19 testing was inaugurated at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on May 21. Prior to this development, samples from the state were taken to Assam or Manipur for COVID-19 testing.

Meanwhile, the BSL-2 lab in Dimapur for COVID-19 testing is still under construction at Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR).

Meanwhile, the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) has also been activated as a COVID-19 hospital with effect from Monday in view of the Chedema COVID-19 hospital nearing its full capacity.
