Mizoram's COVID-19 tally surged to 1,958 after 50 more persons were confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus, official sources said.
The new positive cases were recorded on Monday, as per an update by DIPR Mizoram on Twitter.
"50 new positive cases detected on 28.9.2020. RT-PCR positive: 42 cases, TrueNAT positive: 7 cases
Rapid Antigen Test positive: 1 case," the DIPR tweeted on Tuesday morning.
Of the new cases, 23 individuals, nine males and 14 females, are contacts of positive persons, 19 cases (all males), including 14 CRPF personnel are from quarantine centres, six BSF personnel, one Assam Rifles personnel tested COVID-19 positive from Lunglei district and one case from in Aizawl, the DIPR said in a tweet.
"ZMC RT-PCR positive cases: 23 positive contact cases(9 males, 14 females),19 cases(all males) from quarantine centres which includes 14 CRPF personnel. TrueNAT positive: 7 cases in Lunglei Dist. (6 BSF and 1 AR personnel), all males, RAgT positive: 1 case, Aizawl Dist," Mizoram DIPR posted on Twitter.
With the new COVID-19 positive cases, Mizoram now has 499 active cases while the number of recoveries stands at 1,459. No COVID-19 related death has been reported in the state so far.
