All asymptomatic COVID-19 patients in Mizoram are likely to place themselves under home isolation soon.

According to a Health department source, a meeting chaired by Health minister Dr R Lalthangliana reviewed the guidelines on COVID-19 and decided that asymptomatic patients can undergo home isolation. The reviewed guidelines were sent to the chief minister for approval, according to the source. It added that once the chief minister approves it the department will notify officially.

The meeting held on Tuesday was attended by concerned officials. The need to review the guidelines cropped up to ease the problem of COVID-19 facility shortage.

According to the source, the reviewed guidelines say that any asymptomatic patient who is confirmed by any registered doctor or medical practitioner will be allowed to under home isolation.
 
With the fast increasing number of COVID-19 patients in Mizoram, there has been a great concern with regard to the availability of facilities to address the issue.
 
Recently, the state government had said that Mizoram was likely to face a shortage of Covid-19 Care Centres (CCC) or hospitals if the number of COVID-19 patients continued to rise.

According to the official source, as the grim trend of COVID-19 issue persists in the state, the state government began to take up measures to meet the challenges. Towards these efforts, ministers and concerned officials of the state government had held an emergency meeting last week in Aizawl.
