The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur rose to 71 as five new COVID-19 cases were reported on Sunday, the state health department said.
The health department said that of the five cases, three were from Ukhrul district while the other two were from Noney and Imphal East. They were tested at the VRDL, RIMS and found positive for COVID-19.

The three patients from Ukhrul- two females and one male, have been shifted to RIMS, Imphal for better treatment. Their conditions were said to be stable during admission in isolation wards in Ukhrul and at the time of referral.
Of the total 71 COVID-19 positive cases, 60 are active cases whereas 11 have recovered and discharged from hospital, state health department spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said in a release issued on Sunday.
Meanwhile, four patients - two each from RIMS and JNIMS, were discharged on Sunday after they tested negative for COVID-19 on two consecutive tests. Of the new recovered cases, two were from Thoubal district and one each from Churachandpur and Kamjong districts. "They will be home quarantined for the next 14 days and will remain under surveillance," Dr Mangang stated.

Dr Mangang futher said that all the five new cases are in stable condition and are being shifted to Covid Care facility at RIMS. All control and preventive measures like containment and contact tracing are taken up, he added.
On Saturday, the number of positive cases was 62 after a 44-year-old woman and 34-year-old man tested positive for the virus. The new cases were reported from Churachandpur and Chandel districts who returned to the state from Chennai and Mumbai, respectively. They were shifted to Covid Care Facility, Mangang said in a statement on Saturday.
