Coronavirus claimed one more victim in Manipur on Sunday. With it, the death toll in the state has reached 46. In the past 24 hours, 144 new cases were confirmed, of which 133 persons were from the general population and 11 were personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). The cumulative number of COVID-19 surged to 7,875.
Of the 133 persons, 117 were locals with no travel history while the rest 16 are returnees from other states.
As many as 63 from Imphal West, 12 from Churachandpur, 22 from Thoubal, 23 from Imphal East, one from Kakching, two from Kangpokpi and 10 from Bishnupur were confirmed to be COVID-19 positive on Sunday. The cumulative number of active cases is 1,638.
A release from the COVID-19 common control room states that all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place and the new cases are being shifted to respective Covid Care facilities.
Meanwhile, 89 patients were discharged, pushing the recovery rate to 78.61 per cent and the cumulative number of recovered cases has reached 6,191, a release signed by Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson Health Department, Manipur added.
