The academic activities of the government colleges will resume in view of the 6th semester graduation examination which has been scheduled to begin from September 18, the Federation of Government College Teachers’ Association Manipur announced on Tuesday.
A release signed by the general secretary of FEGOCTA N Somorendro stated that the decision was taken in a joint meeting of Manipur Government Services' Federation, FEGOCTA and other government employees associations.
However, FEGOCTA will resume agitations after the completion of the 6th semester graduation examination for resolving the issues concerning 7th Pay and in the common interest of the employees, it added.
Stating that the federation has been noticing progress in the work for implementation of the 7th UGC Pay and Regulation, 2018, it appealed to the government to solve the issue at the earliest in the interest and welfare of the government teachers.
FEGOCTA is concerned about the safety and health of the students, teachers and non-teaching staff, it further stated. The association urges the state government and authority of Manipur University to conduct awareness about the changes in the examination rules including the guidelines in the examination centres and COVID-19 protocols through media to the students and parents, it added.
