Manipur’s COVID-19 tally nears 5000 mark as it registered 4,925 confirmed cases with the report of 49 new positive cases as of Thursday, according to the data provided by the state health department.
Of the new cases, 40 are from the general population while nine are from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).
All the 40 general cases are patients without any significant travel history, a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated late Thursday. It stated that 19 new positive cases are from Imphal West, six from Imphal East, four from Bishnupur, one from Chandel, two from Ukhrul, one from Senapati and seven from Thoubal.
All the new cases have been shifted to Covid care facilities in the state and all medical precautionary measures and contact tracing are in place, said additional director and spokesperson, state Health Services, Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang. He said that no COVID-19 death was reported on Thursday and the toll remains 18.
Meanwhile, the release also stated that 117 more patients had recovered and discharged from the hospitals after they were found COVID-19 free on RT-PCR test. With it, the total number of recovery is 3002 so far.
As of date, the cumulative number of general positive cases is 3639 and that of CAPF is 1286. The number of active cases stands at 1905 (General- 1030 and security personnel-875). The recovery rate is 60.95 per cent, the release stated.
