Following the declaration of six new locations as containment zones, the district administration has imposed strict lockdown in Tamenglong bazaar areas.
On Friday, 13 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Tamenglong including six cases without any travel history from different parts of Tamenglong town, following which the district administration has declared six locations as containment zones as preventive measures.
The six new containment zones are Duigailong Colony, Apollo Bazaar Area, ADC Colony (Council Colony), the area of 44 Assam Rifles camp, New Lambulane Colony and Gaidailong (Light lane colony).
The District magistrate, Tamenglong said in an order that the containment zones have been immediately sealed with prohibition of entry and exit. Closure of schools, offices and banning of public gathering in any type and vehicular movement in the area have been implemented with immediate effect, including active surveillance of COVID-19 cases, the order said.
Any person(s) or institution(s) or organisation(s) found violating the containment measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence which is punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, it added.
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Tamenglong surged to 241 of which 200 patients have recovered from the novel coronavirus. .
