Condemning the death of pregnant woman Kanpatliu Kamei and the unborn child on August 6, All Manipur Students Union (AMSU), Women Wing has appealed to the enquiry committee to produce a free and fair report at the earliest.
AMSU women wing also demanded that a befitting punishment according to law should be given to all wrong doers who are responsible for the death of the woman and her unborn child.
A release issued by women affairs secretary, AMSU Moibungkhongbam Monalisha Chanu stated that frontline workers have a vital role to play in the present situation of COVID-19 in the State. However, there have been many complaints for different sections that the hospitals have been neglecting other patients rather than the COVID-19 patients.
Such negligence on the part of the hospitals towards a patient who has not undergone a test for COVID-19 has given a hard time and a burden for other patients of emergency cases like accident, delivery case, and cardiac arrest.
Condemning such inhumane nature of the hospitals, the release stated that such nature is not a professional ethics of health care workers. Through such nature, people will lose their trust towards the health care workers and the hospitals, the release added.
The release further appealed to those working in the health sectors to give the same importance to COVID patients as well as patients suffering from other illnesses. Due to the lockdown, patients from hill districts are facing inconveniences while coming for treatment in Imphal.
Appreciating the state government for setting up a fast track court especially for women related cases, AMSU women wing also appealed to the state government to provide all the requirements of the court so that it can fully function at the earliest.
