Three arrested for pirating Manipuri film ‘Khurai Angaobi’

Three people were held for allegedly pirating Manipuri film ‘Khurai Angaobi’ by a team of Mobile Film Distribution Centre on Wednesday evening from Yairipok area.

The three has been accused of directly involving in pirating the film that was released on May 15. The three were identified as Rocky Khundongbam,31, son of Rotomni from Yairipok market area, Gurumayum Samananda sharma,47, son of late Thoiba from  Leirongthel Pitra and Thiyam Herojit,30, son of Thoiba of Yairipok Angtha mamang leikai.

The proprietor of MFDC, Jayenta, told reporters the hardships being faced nowadays by the Manipuri film producers of the state. “Producers are now in a condition of not being able to produce films anymore,” he said, adding piracy is one of the main reasons.

He further made an appeal to the general public to lend support in the development of Manipuri films and cease any activity related to piracy.

The three accused persons were let off after giving consultation and awareness of the issue.
