Two men held with heroin sent to judicial custody

Two men arrested with 760 gram of heroin from Napatjunction of Sugnu-Sangaikot-Kumbi road on July 9 have been sent to fifteen days judicial custody by Special Judge ND&PS Court, Bishnupur, on Tuesday.

Two men arrested with 760 gram of heroin from Napatjunction of Sugnu-Sangaikot-Kumbi road on July 9 have been sent to fifteen days judicial custody by Special Judge ND&PS Court, Bishnupur, on Tuesday.

These two men have been identified as Thanglal Haokip (30), son of Mangjapao Haokip of New Songyang, Chandel district and Jangkholun Lhungdim (27), son of Thangkholen Lhungdim of Moltuk village, Chandel district. They had been sent to police custody for five days. After completion of five days, they were produced before the court by the police with a prayer of judicial custody.

Police got the information from a source that two persons suspected to be carrying drugs might be passing through Sagang via Borayangbi Kumbi road. Accordingly, the police team rushed and conducted frisking and checking at the area. In the meantime, an Eco Van accompanied by the two men was stopped. While checking, two polythene bags suspected to be contraband items were recovered. Contraband drug items contained in soap caps were about 760 gram and the same was seized from the two on July 9.

During the course of the investigation, Thanglal Haokip denied the charge leveled against him by stating Jangkholun came to his place and asked him to go to Sugnu on his van on hire. However, Jangkholen admitted the charge leveled against him. He revealed that he agreed to meet with a man named Rajesh at Sugnu. He arranged all drugs and came to meet Rajesh at Sugnu with drugs and promised to give him Rs 1 lakh as a commission. He hired Thanglal Haokip’s vehicle but he did not tell him about the drugs. The police prayed for judicial custody to avoid hampering further investigation.
