Manipur Loumi Lup on Friday announced that the farmers’ community will relentlessly continue with the farmers’ movement until the BJP government meets with the demands of the Samyukta Kishan Morcha.

In a release, the farmers’ organisation stated that though the farmers’ community acknowledge PM Narendra Modi’s withdrawal of the contentious three farm laws, the PM should not have acted as an authoritarian dictator as the decision should be taken by the union cabinet.

Accusing the government for faking support to the farmers only with the approach of election, it stated that the farmers’ community will commence with the protest until the government meets with the demands of the Samyukta Kishan Morcha.

The demands are to pass the minimum support price law; to authorise the Dr Swaminathan’s report; withdraw electricity amendment act 2020; release the imprisoned farmer protestors; bring justice to the death of farmers in Lakhimpur and remove union minister of state Ajay Mishra; and provide compensation to the bereaved families of the farmers who died in the protest.

Condemning the BJP government’s misleading comparison of the farmers, who are protesting against the three farm laws in a democratic manner with the infamous Khalistan terrorists group, the organisation accused the political leaders for being oblivious to the essence of democracy.

Recalling that the BJP-led state government snubbed the farmers' appeal to provide urea during the paddy cultivation season, it added that the public have no reason to put faith in the government who have no concern for the people.
