Congress MLA Kh Joykisan on Wednesday raised suspicion that some of the political parties and politicians are gaining political mileage out of the ADC bill issue, and raised concern that it will take a heavy toll on society.

Joykisan said there is no one, including the 60 MLAs, against bringing welfare and development in hilly regions.  He appealed to the All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) to withdraw the indefinite economic blockade as the issue could be solved by negotiation.

The government should call for a joint political party meeting to resolve the issue with the ongoing economic blockade imposed along the national highways, he said.

Concerning the issue with the autonomous district council (ADC) bill, the House has resolved to look into the matter with a Hill Area Committee (HAC) which has representatives from each political party including both the ruling and opposition, he added.
