LEWA celebrates Ningol Chakkouba with sisters from different religious backgrounds

Altogether, eight women from different religions who are married to Meiteis participated in the Ningol Chakkouba celebration.

The Lamding Educated Welfare Association (LEWA), Thoubal district celebrated Ningol Chakouba at its volleyball ground on Thursday by inviting women from different religious backgrounds residing at five localities of Lamding village.

LEWA president, S Ojit in a release stated that the association has decided to organise Ningol Chakouba for the married sisters from different religions to show the bond of siblings among brothers and sisters. Although the sisters are from different religions, they are all the Ningols (daughters) of Manipur, he added.

Altogether, eight women from different religions who are married to Meiteis participated in the Ningol Chakouba celebration. They were presented with simple traditional clothes as gifts after having a feast together. The women extended blessings to the LEWA team for a long and healthy life.

The celebration was attended by Sangaiyumpham Zilla Parishad member, Hibjur Rahman (Angou) and Slopeland Public School principal, N Babulin Meitei as chief guest and president respectively. The guests of honour were pradhan nominee of Sangaiyumpham Part-2 GP, Md Wahedur Rahman; upa-pradhan, S Indira; Wangjing-Lamding Municipal Council ward no.3 former councillor, Y Ibopishak; and ward members, Kh Debala, Y Manitombi and N Anita.
