All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) on Wednesday demanded the ruling government to reduce the price of petrol, diesel and LPG cooking gas.

A release by AITUC stated that the skyrocketing of the price of diesel and petrol has led to the increase in travel fares, which have become a huge adversity to the people of the state.

Citing that Manipur has the highest price of oil as compared to other neighbouring states, with the price of petrol at Rs 109.20, it questioned if it is an indication of Manipur having the worst circumstances that the state government needs to raise the oil price the highest. It added that among the neighbouring countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal, India has the highest oil price.

Stressing that the raise on travel fares and the denial of subsidies on LPG cooking gas ultimately affects the public, AITUC demanded the state to take up immediate action and reduce the price of diesel, petrol and LPG cooking gas.
