A hand grenade and an IED allegedly planted by miscreants were found near 33-AR Post at Henbung under Senapati Police Station in Senapati district on Thursday, sources said.
A team of state bomb detection and disposal squad detonated the bombs at the firing range of 4th IRB around 6.45 pm, the sources said.
The IED and the grenade, which weighed 2.5 kg, were found by the Assam Rifles and were brought to their post, the sources said. It is yet to be ascertained why the AR had collected the bomb before the bomb disposal squad arrived, the sources added.
Meanwhile, two mortar shells suspected to be of WW- II era were found at Motbung under Sapermeina Police Station in Kangpokpi district on October 13. They were also detonated by the state bomb disposal squad at a river bank in Motbung on Thursday around 12.45 pm.
