IMPHAL, Jul 26: An irate mob inside the RIMS campus captured a self confessed cadre of the proscribed PREPAK militant after the latter attacked a pharmacy located inside the RIMS campus by hurling a country made grenade, according to police reports.

The reports further stated that the incident occurred at around 2 pm. The arrested individual was identified as Keisham Ingocha, 49, s/o (L) Khamba of Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai.

Ingocha was loitering around in the casualty department and came inside the pharmacy (Vision Social Advancement Pharmacy) and after some time took out the explosive device and hurled it into the store. The grenade landed inside the counter of the store where the Manager, Ibotombi Waikhom, 66, of Liwa Road, Ningthoujam Leikai, was standing.

At the time there were several customers inside the drugs store besides the employees. However, the grenade failed to explode. The incident provoked the bystanders who chased the perpetrators. The attacker was caught and thrashed nearby the main gate.

The accused Ingocha confessed that he was a cadre of the proscribed PREPAK and was arrested twice few months back by security personnel. Further, he confessed he came to RIMS with another cadre who reportedly escaped after the incident.
