There are some 5 star prisoners in India. Charles Shovaraj who was accused of murdering some tourists is one of them. He is enjoying 5 start luxuries inside the prison. It was once exposed that his girl friend was allowed to have sex with him in the room of the warden.

One could draw a parallel in Manipur. There is a man who was detained for several crimes including the murder of two persons. Yet he has been operating from inside the prison as the leader of a banned underground organisation with the help of mobile phones. In the past it was learnt that some prison officials had collected money and delivered to him as if they were his peons. When his cell was raided he had bitten to pieces some SIM cards. But he continues to operate without any restraint.

Do the Home Minister and the DGP owe an explanation to the people on how the prison has been converted to a 5 star hotel for this accused person ? In Manipur those who can extort money are the most respected and cared lot. They are never harassed or killed since then they are hens which lay golden eggs.

No wonder, insurgency can never be solved in Manipur. If it is solved palatial buildings will crumble and properties cannot be purchased in other cities. Is Chidambaram paying any attention ?
