Sir,
Apropos to the concocted rejoinder of Shri S.P.Paul and A.Adani Khrasi, the former Chairman and Secy of the makhrelui Village, carried in Sangai Express dated 30th March, 2010, the undersigned on behalf of the Villagers are constrained to inform the public, that S.P. Paul and A. Adani Khrasi have allegedly misused Rs. 1, 45,5 0, 997 of Village NREGS funds, 2008 to 2009. In this connection, they have been impeached unanimously by the House, and thereby new Village Authority members have been elected in the General Body Meeting on 20th March, 2010. They also made false allegation and accusation against Shri. Kapangkhui and Shri PF.Daniel as unbonafide villagers and termed the GBM they have convened as illegal meeting. To justify their legitimacy, they have been getting their share of village NREGS and holders of Ration Card bearing No.826 and 339 respectively. The GBM called by the former Chairman and Secy on 27thMarch, 2010 was also apparently unofficial and unauthorised.
It’s unfortunate to note that the development funds under NREGS, a National Flagship programme meant for the rural people, have been unscrupulously and rampantly siphoned off by responsible citizens like them with vested interest and self-styled leadership. Due to the fact, the village beneficiaries have been deprived of the development scheme. And no development can’t be brought about due to misappropriation of fund by such corrupted leaders. Therefore, such kind of corruption and injustice should be taken as serious offence. And the culprits should be booked under NREGS Act and Indian Panel Code. The public and concerned authorities are also urged to co-operate with the Village Authority to curb such scandal for the betterment of the generation to come.
Yours faithfully,
K. Thohrii, Secretary; H. Davidstone, Chairman,
Makhrelui Village Authority.
