Transfer of pending pension amount begins
“State department of Social Welfare has started transferring of funds to 55,045 pensioner beneficiaries under National Social Assistance Scheme (NASP) that was pending since last year. Beneficiaries should rectify the mistakes in their names imprinted to the essential documents in order to get the financial benefits.”
Director, social welfare department, Ng. Uttam stated during a press conference held today at his office chamber located at department of social welfare, North A.O.C., Imphal.
National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) is a centrally sponsored scheme of the central government that provides financial assistance to the elderly, widows and persons with disabilities in the form of social pensions. It was launched in 1995 under ministry of rural development.
He said the department has been taking initiatives to deliver pension to the beneficiaries falling under the category of widows, disabled person and old aged person. Due to some unavoidable circumstances, the beneficiaries failed to get their pension amount for one year where the amount has to be transferred to the beneficiaries’ account directly from the department, he added.
There was pending of six months for widow pensioners, one year for disabled person and old aged pensioners. With the initiatives of the department, ministry of rural development has sanctioned the pending amount and started distribution of pensions to the beneficiaries directly to their respective bank accounts, he added.
For the old aged pensioners, the amount for next six months has also been sanctioned and it will be transferred to the respective bank accounts in time, said Uttam.
He said the money is transferred through public financial management system (PFMS) but some of the beneficiaries failed to get the money. To get direct benefits, the beneficiaries have to give the same personnel details without any variations in all the documents which are essential to get the benefits. Pointing out an example, he said some beneficiaries have different personal details in aadhaar card and personal bank account. In order to get the benefits the beneficiaries must have same personal details in both the aadhaar card and personal bank accounts, he added.
He appealed the beneficiaries who failed to get the beneficiary amount to rectify the personal details. He said the department will transfer a total of Rs. 7.25 crore for one year.
He further said the applicants who had submitted their documents in ‘go to village’ and ‘go to hills’ mission in connection with the pension schemes will be given benefit soon.
