BJP’s policy is not only ‘divide and rule’ but also ‘divide and ruin’: Gaikhangam
IMPHAL | Aug 25
Strongly reacting to the atrocities and gross violation of human rights following the recent abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir by the BJP led NDA government, president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Gaikhangam has charged that the BJP’s policy is not only ‘divide and rule’ but also ‘divide and ruin’.
Gaikhangam was speaking at the interaction programme of booth level Congress workers for 14-Yaiskul assembly constituency held today at Thangapat Mapal community hall.
Addressing the gathering, he stated that the ‘divide and ruin’ policy of the BJP may be implemented anytime in the State as well. “Besides that, various issues like Naga Framework Agreement, Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, Uniform Civil Law, etc. are looming large threatening the very existence of the state,” he said while appealing the people to stay cautious from any tactics or policy that could create disunity.
The MPCC president further contended that Manipur is in a State of chaos with the present unstable BJP government. While noting that portfolios stripped off from minister Biswajit, namely, works and power have been restored; Gaikhangam demanded the report of the enquiry initiated to check if there was any funds misuse in the said departments. The report should be placed in the public domain. Nevertheless, it is very likely that the power tussle within the ministers and MLAs will resurface after the coming assembly session, the MPCC president observed.
Talking about the interaction, Gaikhangam, who is also Congress Working Committee (CWC) member, stated that such interaction at the lower levels is being organised to introspect, retrospect and rectify the mistakes committed by the party in their past political policies.
Presently, the Congress party is targeting to secure not less than 45 seats out of the total 60 seats in state assembly election, 2022. Such meeting and interactions with grassroots level workers will greatly help in establishing connection and ensure fulfilling the Mission 2022 as the grassroots level workers are more aware of the drawbacks of the party, he maintained.
Former CM and congress legislature party leader, Okram Ibobi pointed out that a massive economic crisis that have occurred never before is being faced across the country under the BJP led government. “The people are reeling under skyrocketing prices of all essential commodities; however, it is very unfortunate that the people are bearing it all in silence,” said Ibobi.
Th interaction programme also witnessed the attendance of president, Yaiskul Block Congress Committee, Phurailatpam Guneshor; general secretary (administration) and MPCC, Hareshwor Goswami along with its secretary (administration), S. Jeeten and social worker, Huidrom Vikram of HVS construction
