Untimely distribution of rice for Khurai is caused by transport contractor: Susindro
The issue concerning untimely distribution of rice for Khurai assembly constituency was created by transport contractor along with the Food and Civil Supply department, alleged MLA Susindro today.
The MLA along with the people of Khurai, deposited an amount of Rs. 25, 32,825 to the department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAF and PD), Imphal East today. It is said that the amount was collected from 27 fair price shop agents of the assembly constituency.
To deposit the said amount, huge people of the assembly constituency along with Susindro marched towards Imphal East district commissioner’s office. The people were blocked at Porompat crossing by Imphal East police. Later, 27 agents along with the MLA were allowed to enter the office.
The said amount was deposited at the department and it was received by civil supply inspector and district supply officer of CAF and PD, Imphal East.
Speaking to media, MLA, Susindro said contractor of M/S N.E enterprises, Hemanta had raised allegations that the rice were not distributed due to the MLA’s failure to deposit the amount for rice for the last six months.
“He also mentioned earlier that rice for five months are in his possession and if the amount for the said rice is deposited, then he will distribute immediately,” Susindro added.
When MLA along with the people of the assembly constituency tried to deposit the said amount for five months yesterday at the office of M/S N.E enterprises, but they could not find the office at New Checkon, Imphal East.
Susindro further said to get the five month’s rice which were mentioned by the contractor, the people of the assembly constituency and himself came at the department to deposit the amount.
He said the amount for five months was received by the officers of the department and they assured that the distribution of rice will begin from tomorrow.
Susindro said as per the information of NFSA, the amount for rice is to be deposited to the account of director Food and Civil supply through district supply officer of the department.
He said if the department failed to distribute rice by tomorrow, ministers concerned and the two officers must take the consequences.
