Congress and BJP candidates for LS election likely on March 16 and 17
IMPHAL | Mar 15
The BJP led coalition government in Manipur completed its two years of governance today. However, there was no celebration to mark the occasion on part of the government as election model code of conduct for the 17th Lok Sabha election has been enforced since March 10.
BJP Manipur Pradesh has also postponed the celebration as state BJP leaders, chief minister Nongthombam Biren and state unit president, Ksh Bhabananda are reportedly staying in Delhi to attend parliamentary board meeting.
As per a source from BJP Manipur Pradesh, Biren and Bhabananda called on BJP national president Amit Shah late this evening. The trio critically discussed the current political scenario in the State ahead of the election and the finalisation of whom to field as BJP candidates.

Whereas the chief electoral officer PK Singh has notified that the last date for filing nomination is March 25 for outer Manipur parliamentary constituency and March 26 for inner Manipur parliamentary constituency, speculations are high as the candidates for both inner and outer parliamentary constituencies are yet to be announced for both BJP and Congress party.
