Joykishan appeals for wholehearted participation by teams in 12th Manipur State LeagueIMPHAL | Dec 6
Thangmeiband MLA, Kh Joykishan Singh, who is the title sponsor of the Manipur State League, has appealed the teams for their wholehearted participation in the ensuing 12th Manipur State League 2017 which will be resumed from December 10 at Mapal Kangjeibung.
The 12th Manipur State League has been on hold since October 2017 halfway through the league due to disturbances arising out of assault on referee and subsequent fines by All Manipur Football Association to teams, leading to expulsion of nine teams for failing to comply for resumption of matches and even dragging the matter to court, leading to abandonment of the league.
However, All Manipur Football Association and Manipur State League Participating Teams Forum has thrashed out the matter in November this year including settling of the court cases and revocation of suspension order of nine teams out of the twelve team in the league and had decided for the resumption of the Manipur State League.
The MLA has sponsored Manipur State League since its sixth edition in the memory of his late father Kh. Ingocha Singh. He had forked out Rs.3.90 lakhs from which Rs.2 lakhs has been given to the winner and Rs.1 lakhs to the runners up and other individual prizes. Earlier Asian Football Confederation under its Vision India Project had sponsored the league till the fifth edition.
Speaking to reporters at Mapal Kangjeibung, he said, “Let’s forget and forgive each other for the misunderstanding that led to the stalling of the Manipur State League. There is always room for adjustment for the betterment of the football in the state.”
He further said, “Winning or losing is part of the game and as I have associated with NISA team as its president earlier, the feeling of team officials is understandable. But let us uplift the Manipur State League to its former glory with the whole hearted effort of the participating teams.”
“One should remember that we are contributing immensely to the cause and development of football in the country. There are so many state players who had shined themselves in ISL and I-League. The Manipur State League serves as a platform where many youngsters can push themselves to greater height,” said Joykishan.
Mentioned may be made that some of the teams are feeling slightly edgy as some of its players are out of action for long time and some unavailable for personal reasons, giving an unbalanced look.
AMFA president, S. Sanatomba Singh and secretary-in-charge, L. Jyotirmoy Roy along with some team officials attended the press meet today.
Dimapur Road Athletic Union, Sekmai will take on Nambul Mapal Cultural Organisation in the first match of the 12th MSL at 11:30 am while Anouba Imagi Mangal will face North Imphal Sporting Association at 1:30pm at Mapal Kangjeibung.
