Ibobi lambasts NDA government for not bringing petroleum products under GST
IMPHAL | Sept 10 : The common people of the country cannot tolerate the works of the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is a “total-failure” and an “anti-people” government, stated Indian National Congress (INC) observer, Bhubaneswar Kalita during a press conference held today at the BT Road office of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
He said, “The Modi government knows only how to give speeches and lectures, what they actually do is only to put the life of common people in peril.”
The direct or moral support of today’s ‘Bharat Bandh’ by all sections of the public of the state clearly shows that everyone is against the price hike of petroleum products which automatically leads to price hike of the essential commodities, added the observer.
“Congress is not going to tolerate such anti-people government and the party will fight till the last unless such anti-people activities like price hike is put to a complete halt,” said Bhubaneswar.
He continued, “Every person believes that such steps of BJP is a suicidal attack and is the last nail in the coffin.”
Earlier, members of MPCC marched a rally from BT Road office of MPCC till PCTC petrol pump, North AOC, supporting the nationwide bandh called by INC against the price hike of petroleum products and essential commodities. The rally was led by former chief minister, O. Ibobi, former deputy chief minister, Gaikhangam and MPCC president, T.N. Haokip and other MLAs of the party.
“The dictatorship government of Narendra Modi has been looting directly from the poor of the poorest by hiking the price of crude oil products and essential commodities,” said Ibobi.
MPCC whole heartedly support the ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by INC under the supervision of its president, Rahul Gandhi, added Ibobi, who is also the leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP).
Asserting that the rate of crude oil products is continuously rising in the country when the international rate is declining, the CLP leader said the BJP government should not be allowed to continue further as they only bring suffers to the general public.
He lambasted the NDA government for not bringing petroleum products under GST. ‘If crude oil is under GST, its price might have been reduced to Rs. 15 to 18 per liter,” continued Ibobi.
“If the state government truly cares and empathises with the sufferings of the general public, they might have decreased the VAT of state government like it is done in other states like Rajasthan,” said Ibobi.
