Let us unite to create a developed Heirok: Radheshyam
THOUBAL | Sept 10 : “Let us come together and make Heirok a progressive and peaceful, developed and a resourceful assembly constituency,” stated Education, Labour and Employment minister, Thokchom Radheshyam who is also the representative of Heirok assembly constituency.
The minister gave the statement as chief guest in a function where ujjwala gas connection, sewing machines, CMHT cards, insecticides for farmers, bee keeping equipment etc were handed over to beneficiaries.
The function held today was organised by Heirok part II, Mayai Leikai Development Committee with the goal to extend support to the disadvantaged sections of the area.
The minister further stated that Heirok is largely constituted by the poor people and there are more farmers. He assured that efforts will be definitely given to improve their conditions.
Lamenting that the people of Hierok had suffered from shortages of fertilisers in the past few years, he stated that a plan will be made to stockpile the required fertilisers in advance so that such shortages may be avoided. Societies will be made for each different group of farmers who will be given loans and tractors and others, he said adding that the pathways leading to the paddy fields will be also repaired.
While assuring that that the primary school at Heirok part II will be reconstructed, he appealed the locality to extend their support and urged them not to get the impression that the school is being repaired by Radheshyam as the repairing work will be done by the government.
Speaking on the political scenario, he stated that the opposition party, Congress is using the Framework Agreement as tool for playing politics, and expressed that congress ought not to act in such a way. The minister further questioned what the Congress was doing in its 15 years rule and cited the Chandel and Ukhrul incidents asking what the Congress government did during those times.
The expectations of Congress party that they will gain more sympathy from the people by using the Framework Agreement as tool will not work as the people have become wiser and no longer like to listen at political lectures, he said. He further assured that the territorial integrity of Manipur will not be compromised under any circumstances.
It may be mentioned that financial assistance sanctioned by the MLA under Local Area Development Fund to build houses for the homeless people of Heirok was handed over to the selected beneficiaries.
The occasion was attended by councillors of Sikhong Sekmai Municipal Council, councillors and pradhans of Heirok Nagar Panchayat, president of BJP Heirok Mandal, Th. Chourjit also attended as a dais member.
