Even buffalos cannot pass through PMGSY road at Island sub-division: TSA Sadar Hills
KANGPOKPI | Sept 2 : Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) Sadar Hills alleged that the road constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) between Bongbal Kholen and Kamu Saichang, as a complete mockery and meaningless.
Considering the serious complaint of the local populace, a team of TSA Sadar Hills led by its president, Kammang Kipgen and general secretary, Thangtinlen Haokip visited the spot and found exceedingly disgraceful of the construction work.
The road in particular was constructed between Bongbal Kholen and Kamu Saichang under Island sub-division of Kangpokpi district.
Information and Publicity secretary of TSA Sadar Hills, Lamgoulal Thomsong said that the alleged scandalous construction of the road was taken up Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency (MSRRDA) under PMGSY bearing Package No. 659 of Phase VII of 2010-11.
“The road is so pathetic that even a buffalo finds it hard to pass through,” alleged Thomsong while expressing strong condemnation and discontentment upon the construction agency.
He continued that some of the culverts constructed along the road are half way for footpath while some remained incomplete till today.
He also said that before inspection of the spot, TSA investigated the works, progress and details of the road construction but found nothing except sanction of bill and a shocking reply given by employee of the concerned department that the second stage of E-Tender is under process, “so better not raise any complaint.”
TSA Sadar Hills was extremely upset to get such outrageous reply on the part of the concerned department instead of providing fact documents and initiating spot survey, he added.
“At the same time the student body also wondered as if the E-Tender is more important than the roads condition which is to communicate, transport and used by the needy people from the hill especially the local community of the area,” said Lamgoulal.
He further said that TSA Sadar Hills has been informed that the said road construction work was executed by one sub-contractor in the name of Nassir.
Drawing the attention of the state government to take up necessary action to the concerned contractor on or before September 7, TSA Sadar Hills warned that it will launch various forms of agitation with the local people if the government fails to take up any positive action in connection with the matter.
