KSO demands immediate action on delay of Saikul PHC upgradation
KANGPOKPI | Aug 30 : Saikul sub-division of Kangpokpi district witnessed another alleged failure of BJP government over its own commitment in connection with the upgradation of Primary Health Centre (PHC) Saikul into Community Health Centre (CHC) last December.
Health and Family Welfare minister had laid the foundation stone of the community health centre in the presence of director of Health Services after the previous PHC was upgraded into CHC on December 10, 2017.
However, the people of Saikul alleged that the community health centre exists only in paper till today since no necessary infrastructures and adequate human resources are put in to place despite the fact that almost a year has passed.
KSO Saikul Block inspected the CHC in Saikul and found many necessary infrastructures and human resources still at large despite its upgradation from PHC to CHC while vehemently decrying the alleged insincerity of the state government over Saikul people.
Speaking to media persons, general secretary of KSO Saikul Block, Haochinlen Kilong said that no adequate staffs have been posted so far at CHC Saikul and the existing staffs are not even adequate for PHC while adding that five medical officers are supposed to be posted as per the sanctioned post but the only two existing medical officers were compelled to look after the centre 24x7.
He recalled that one medical officer was transferred to Bishnupur district recently without replacement and the single Ayush medical officer was also transferred at Phayeng a couple of months ago with similar condition.
While highlighting the grievances of the people, Haochinlen said that the CHC being only the health centre in the area has to cater to the health needs of more than 40,000-50, 000 populations while the daily patient intake of is more than 100.
Considering the avoidable difficulties faced by the public due to the shortage of doctors, infrastructures and other staffs, the student body appealed the state government to immediately issue an order for posting of required medical officers at CHC Saikul while it also appealed the authority concerned not to transfer any CHC Saikul staffs without arrangement of replacement.
The student body further appealed the authority concerned to fully operationalise Saikul (Sadar Hills East) as a ‘separate health block’ at the earliest and take action against any health departmental staffs and officials involving in the alleged illegal diversion of Sadar Hills East Health Block to Maram which is not a recognised health block by the ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
KSO Saikul also urged to open an ‘Enrolment Centre’ for CMHT applicant at Saikul as the public of the area faces various difficulties to go to Kangpokpi to get enrolled in the said chief minister’s project CMHT.
