Who is in charge of Kangpokpi Police?
I am addressing this to you as you also hold the Home Portfolio.
Today evening I had reached Kangpokpi at 8.00 pm arriving from Dimapur .And as was mandatory the vehicle halted in front of the Kangpokpi Police Station to report his passage.Then after sometime a Constable appeared to make a head count of the passengers onboard.
Ten minutes later the driver Loitongbam Maniton appeared and informed us passengers that the Police is prohibiting further travel along the highway as they feared attacks and looting by miscreants , supposedly rouge SOO elements.Then after the driver posed the problem to us we told them that we are realdy to press on irrespective of the consequences.
This he then relayed to the guardians of Law and Order.Then we heard a voice from within the Police Station”ok but you are going on at your own risk and cannot hold the Police responsible for any untoward incident”.The Driver said that the Police had made the driver of another Winger sign on a Blank paper before lifting the gate across the highway.
My question is
1. Has the Manipur administration issued any order to the effect that vehicular movement along the NATIONAL HIGHWAY be halted after 8 PM .
2. Has any further orders been issued to make the Drivers accountable for any loss of lives or properties thereafter.
3. Finally has the Government of Manipur surrendered that odd 15 kilometers stretch of Highway from Kangpokpi to Motbunng to the Rouge SOO elements.
Am sure that the DGP L.M.Khaute IPS is not aware of this happening.
We proceeded but the manner in which the Kangpokpi Police acted did not really help matters as the Driver asked us who will pay in case his vehicle gets fired upon by the miscreants.
Please do something about it.And yes the Police at Mao was seen very efficiently checking the Adhaar Cards of the non-manipuris entering MANIPUR.
