Chin-Kuki-Mizo Kut on November 1

IMPHAL, October 17: Kut, 2013 will be held on November 1, 2013 at the 1st MR Parade Ground, informed an official statement issued by C Mang Kipgen, spokesperson, State Level Kut Committee (SKLC), 2013.

Vakkom B Purushothaman, Governor of Mizoram will grace the cultural session starting 11 am onwards as the chief guest and Ashwani Kumar, Governor of Manipur will grace the cultural session as the chief host while Okram Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister, Manipur will grace the evening session as the chief guest.

The evening session starting 5 pm onwards will showcase the Miss Kut, 2013 competition, adding that Miss Kut competition has been going on since 1979.

The cash prize of the Miss Kut carries Rs 1,00,000 /- for Miss Kut winner, Rs 75,000 /- for the 1st Runner up and Rs. 50,000 /- for the 2nd Runner up, adding that all the former Miss Kut winners will be invited and honoured on stage this year.

Kut, 2012 witnessed a crowd of more than 42000, it said adding that the state event, security arrangements and strict coordination among the agencies handling the event is being given prime importance in order to ensure law and order during the festival. SKLC has taken the assistance of BSNL for online viewing.

Kut website (www.statelevelkut.com) including social networking sites is proposed to be launched to stay updated with the event.

Kut Committee also chaired a meeting on October 9 with All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU) at Manipur Press Club for the coverage, broadcast and reporting of the festival.

In a meeting of the SLKC held at 1st MR Banquet Hall in June, 2013, the committee elected Ginsuanhao (MLA/Singhat) as the new Chairman.

Other members include Ngamthang Haokip (Minister/IFCD), T N Haokip (MLA/Saikot), T Manga Vaiphei (MLA/Henglep), Vungjagin Valte (MLA/Thanlon), Nemcha Kipgen (MLA/Kangpokpi), Yamthong Haokip (MLA/Saikul).
