NE Helpline alleges NE students attacked in Delhi

NEW DELHI, February 27: The North East Helpline, spokesperson M Madhu Chandra has said in a press release that ten North East students were attacked at Delhi, two seriously injured, and one admitted in ICU at a hospital.

The statement alleged that the Delhi Police delayed in registering FIR and no actions were taken to apprehend the culprits.

“According to the source reaching to the North East Helpline, ten North East boys from Manipur were attacked by a group of unknown people on February 24 night in Delhi University campus”, the statement claimed.

“While they were returning after dropping one of their friends in DU hostel, a group numbering 8 to 9 people came from behind attacked on them with sticks. When they raised their voice and tried to defend themselves, the culprits fled from the spot”, the statement said before adding that two of the boys suffered serious injuries and one still is in Intensive Care Unit.

Further continuing it said, the boys first received first aid from the DU clinic and were further referred to the Hindu Rao Hospital, where their admission was denied.

“Latter the boys were taken to St Parmanant Hospital. The Doctors on Duty at St Parmanant Hospital informed Police and the police took the statement from the victims. A medical legal case is registered at the hospital”, it said.

“A group of student from Manipur went to Maurice Nagar Police Station to register the complaint in written. The police official has taken the footage of CCTV installed at the place where the incident took place. The police have shown the footage to the students who went to registere the complaint. The police have given assurance to arrest the culprits”, it said.

NE Helpline has contacted the Maurice Police Station and found out that no FIR is registered until the filing of this report, the statement said.

What is the use of Helpline if it wait for fir? the helpline staff should rush to rescue and file fir on the victim behalf. The Government should stop lip business and employ helpline staff who r responsible.
