As per approval by president of KNO, Pu P.S. Haokip, new leaders of KNLF have been appointed, for which KNLF/KNO has expressed their gratitude to PS Haokip for settling the problem of the organisation, said a release issued by secretary and JGM of Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF/KPA), Boithang Haokip.

It said that due to lack of committed leaders, the organisation has been marred with internal conflicts and internecine killings. The effort of KNLF to avoid and prevent discords and discontentment has gone in vain due to evil designs of some personnel who work for their vested interest.

The founding member of KNLF, Paobul Lhungdim from Molnom village, Churachandpur and many other competent leaders are still in Myanmar jail and the organisation is in jeopardy and in need of re-construction and reformation, said the release.

The newly elected leaders are Henminthang alias Thangpi Haokip, C-in-C, KNLF/KNO, former under-secretary, trade and commerce, KNLF/KNO, Boithang Haokip alias HL Kuki, organisation  secretary, cum joint monitoring group (JMG) and KNO arm wings, home department, it added.

Dearness relief, which is admissible to central government pensioners and their families have been enhanced from the existing rate of 4 percent to 5 percent with effect from July 2017, as per a memorandum from union government’s department of pension and pensioners’ welfare.

A release said the new rates will be applicable to civilian government pensioners and family pensioners including central government absorbee pensioners in public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies, armed forces pensioners, civilian pensioners paid out of the defence service estimates, all India service pensioners, Burma civilian pensioners and family pensioners and pensioners and families of displaced government pensioners from Pakistan.

Central government absorbee pensioners in public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies, Burma civilian pensioners and family pensioners had been eligible for dearness relief at the rate of 2 percent from July 2016 and at the rate of 4 percent from January 2017, it said.  Payments will be adjusted accordingly, it continued.

The order is not applicable to CPF beneficiaries, their widows and eligible children who are in receipt of ex-gratia payment, the release said.

Separate orders will be issued by the department of justice for retired judges of the Supreme Court and high courts, it continued.

New orders will also be issued for pensioners and family pensioners from the Indian audit and accounts department after consultation with the comptroller and auditor general, it added.

Issue and receipt of application forms for Haj 2018 began today as per the directive of Haj committee of India, Mumbai, said a release.

Forms can be obtained free of cost at the office of Manipur state Haj committee’s executive officer Md. Salaudin Khan till December 7. Hopeful pilgrims can also apply online through the Haj committee website www.hajcommittee.gov.in.

An online qurrah or lottery for the selection of the pilgrims will be held in the first week of January 2018. Selected pilgrims will have to submit the advance Haj amount by the second week of January.

Applicants for the lottery must have a machine-readable valid passport valid till at least February 14, 2019, the release added.

Life Savers Manipur along with St. John Foundation, Moirangkampu Sajeb, Imphal East is organising a voluntary blood donation camp on Friday, November 17 at Moirangkampu Sajeb Laibung from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The managing director, K. Padmakumar Sharma stated in a release that the camp is organised in association with department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS, Lamphel and urged all to take part in the said programme.

12 Battalion of 26 sector Assam Rifles recovered WY tablets worth approximately 5.55 lakh rupees from a vehicle on November 13.

A release said, a blue Eco van travelling from Moreh to Imphal was stopped and searched at PVCP, Khudengthabi in Tengnoupal. 1,110 WY tablets were found hidden inside the driver’s it said. The apprehended individual along with the contraband were handed over to Moreh police station, the release added.

Smart Society, Manipur organised a spot painting and slogan writing competitions at Smart universal academy in Kakching today in observance of world diabetes day.

The theme for the event was ‘women and diabetes: our right to a healthy future,’ said a release.  Both the slogan writing and spot painting competitions were held in two categories, it said. Category A was for students of classes fourth and fifth, while category B for class sixth to eighth. 153 students took part in the programme, it added.

Secretary, Smart Society and Salai Laithou Shanglen, Salai Holdings N. Dhanabati Devi and principal, Smart universal academy L. Hemchandra Singh chaired the event.

The objective of the programme was to provide the younger generation awareness to combat diabetes, it added.
