World veterinary day observed in Churachandpur

Churachandpur district joined the celebration of World Veterinary Day under the aegis of District Veterinary Office at Tuibong, Churachandpur by providing free anti-rabies vaccination on Saturday.

The vaccination programme witnessed a high turnout with the exercise which started last month in anticipation of World Veterinary Day.

On the occasion, free anti-rabies vaccination was provided to many pets, mostly cats and dogs while vaccination for other animals like goats was also provided by the Veterinary department at their Veterinary Hospital cum office at Tuibong.

Veterinary doctor Thanboi said that in anticipation of the World Veterinary Day, they had started vaccinating domesticated animals since last month, and are now vaccinating more than 2,000 domesticated animals, majority of which are dogs.

He also said more than 3,000 doses of vaccination are being transferred from the Manipur State Veterinary department. They are also organising awareness campaigns in many localities, villages where they are providing free vaccination  doses that culminated in the observation of World Veterinary Day on Saturday.
