"Whoever has done it will have to pay a heavy price," declared Kuldiep Singh, Security Advisor of Manipur on Saturday in response to the attack on CRPF by suspected militants at 2nd IRB Battalion at Narasena in Bishnupur district.

The assault, which occurred during the wee hours of Saturday, resulted in the tragic loss of the lives of two CRPF personnel while two others sustained injuries.

Following a query by the media about the attacker's identity on the sidelines of the wreath laying ceremony of the two CRPF personnel at Imphal Airport, Kuldiep said "I don't need to mention the name of the group. Everyone knows which group is active in the area. I don't want to repeat it".

"Earlier, you might have seen that the groups were attacking national infrastructure like roads and power line towers. Now, they are attacking central forces," he added.

Stating that investigation is still in its initial stage, he said this is the first time they are attacking the central forces which are neutral forces in the ongoing crisis of Manipur.

None of militants had earlier attacked (security) forces, as the forces are here from far flung areas to maintain peace in the state. They are neutral and they are standing between communities, he said.

This is the first time that they have attacked the forces, he said, adding this is a very ghastly retaliation against forces.

He said, "We will take action against them. We will not spare them and bring them to the court".

"We will not tolerate it, we will not spare them, we will bring them before the law. Whatever they have done, they will be punished as per law of land," he added.

The wreath laying was also attended by chief secretary Vineet Joshi, DGP Manipur Rajiv Singh and other high-ranking officers of the central and state forces.

After the wreath laying ceremony, the bodies were flown to their respective hometowns from Imphal Airport.
