BISHNUPUR | Aug 18 Two shops at Ningthoukhong Bazar, Bishnupur district were gutted by fire last night at around 11:30 pm. The owners of the shop were identified as RK. Ranjit and L. Surjit. The adjoining shops were saved by the timely arrival of the firemen of Bishnupur Fire Service and Moirang Fire Service. According to sources, Bishnupur police nabbed a woman who was suspected to have set the shops on fire.

IMPHAL | Aug 18 The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) strongly condemned the inhuman act of NSCN-IM for killing one of its cadres named Elimelech Gangmei on August 13 at Namdailong village, Assam bordering Jiribam, Manipur. A release issued by ZUF information and publicity secretary, H. Kamson said that there was a short cross firing between the two groups. However, Elimelech Gangmei (Malechpou) alias Athui Gangmei was caught alive by the NSCN-IM before the firing was started and later shot dead in the shadow of gun fight.
