IMPHAL | Sept 12

The All Manipur Surrenders Association (AMSA) appealed to the government to release their stipend and onetime payment as per the surrender policy before September 20.

Speaking to media persons today at Manipur Press Club, Imphal the association’s general secretary, M. Thambalngou Meitei said that the government had assured to give a monthly stipend of Rs. 4000 and onetime payment of Rs. 3 lakhs after three years from the date they surrendered as per the surrender policy for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 surrendered batches.

Several memoranda were submitted to the authority concerned as well as to the chief minister and in reply they said that the work is in under process, he added.

Stating that verification process has ended long back the general secretary said that five months is more than enough to finish the work process to sanction their fund.

Mentioning that it is very doubtful that many of the surrendered persons were killed by the central forces as more than half of the surrendered persons were missing and were unable to be contacted he appealed to the government to take measures to protect their lives.

The association warned off a general strike from September 21, if the government fails to release the pending fund by September 20.
