Call for promoting culture

Director of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipuri Dance Academy, L. Upendro Sharma said only arts and culture can bring the state into global level.

Addressing the 24th foundation day of Nata Sangeet Academy and Research Centre (NSARC), Yaiskul Janmasthan today at Janmasthan Leikai community hall, Upendro as chief guest appreciated the work of NSARC to promote the culture of Manipur. Nata Sankritan is also taking a main role in order to promote the art and culture.

He said only Nata Sankritan will not be able to fulfil the goal but tribal folk dances have also the responsibility including various ethnic groups of Manipur. The state will be known worldwide if the culture of all the ethnic groups is promoted equally.

As a part of the programme artist of Nata Sankritan paid floral tributes to departed souls of former executive members of NSARC including former gurus.

Vice-president of NSARC, Akham Khergopal Singh, padmashree awardee, S. Thanil Singh and president of SPIC-MACY, Imphal chapter, W. Ibomcha Singh also attended the function as president and guest of honour respectively.

Later, a cultural performance by ten artists of NSARC “pung yeiba eshei sakpa eshei sakpana pung yeiba” entertained the crowd.
