NPF removes Manipur state unit president

The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has removed Manipur state unit president Awangbou Newmai from his post with immediate effect for indulging in anti-party activities by joining the dissidents MLAs following a meeting held on September 8, said a release signed by secretary of Youth Wing, NPF, Manipur, S. Augustine.

According to the removal order, NPF president, Shürhozelie Liezietsu removed Newmai as per power conferred to him vide Article V Section 9 with Article XIV of the NPF constitution, it said.

It further said that the removal recommendation was made by the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) during its meeting on September 8.

Following the removal of Awangbou Newmai, Liezietsu in exercise of his power constituted a nomination committee consisting of Alexander Pao, Honreikhul Kashum, Sehpu Haokip and Victor Nunglum as the convenor, member secretary and members respectively, it continued.

It further said that A.S. Tennyson has been appointed as acting president till the recommendation of the nomination committee is approved by the central head Quarters.
